Civet Coffee is the World's Most Expensive Coffee

The most expensive coffee in the world which sells from US $100 to $600 per pound does not hail from Jamaica or Hawaii nor does it come from Starbucks, surprisingly the world's most expensive coffee comes from a cat poop!

As morbid as it sounds, yes it's true. But hey, it's no ordinary cat droppings. Civet cats, a weasel-like animal eats only the finest coffee berries using their keen sense of smell to select the choicest and ripest beans. It digests the soft outer part of the coffee cherry, but does not digest the inner beans and excretes them. After spending about a day and a half in the civet's digestive tract which apparently adds a unique flavor to the beans, removing the bitter flavor, and then beans are hand-collected from the jungle floor, washed, sun-dried, manually sorted, roasted and served.

Civet Coffee is also known as Kopi Luwak in Indonesia (you'll probably hear Jack Nicholson often boast of this coffee in the movie "Bucket List") and Alamid coffee in the Philippines where they are mainly produced.

Question now is, would you dare shell out $50 per cup for drinking this strange brew?
