F-22 Raptor: World's Most Expensive Fighter Jet

The world's most expensive fighter jet is unexpectedly quite famous. If you've seen the movie Transformers, then you've just caught glimpse of the $150 million per unit fighter jet known as F-22 Raptor. Characterized by Decepticon's Starcream, the F-22 Raptor is believed to be the most advanced and most expensive jet fighter in the world developed by Lockheed Martin Corporation for the United States Armed Forces.

F-22 Raptor

This aircraft that has the capacity to take on 10 targets at 150 miles away at one time, combines stealth design with the supersonic, highly maneuverable, dual-engine, long-range requirements of an air-to-air fighter and will have an inherent air-to-ground capability. The F-22’s integrated avionics gives it first-look, first-shot, first-kill capability that will guarantee U.S. air dominance for the next 40 years.

According to recent news however, F-22 has not only sat on the sidelines in Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya — the entire fleet has been grounded indefinitely since early May due to a problem that’s caused some mysterious symptoms for pilots.
