6 Famous Celebrities and their Private Jets

Big time celebrities not only know how to work their magic on land by acquiring luxury cars or expensive real estate properties, they fly high in fancy as well. They may not be the proudest owners of world's most expensive private jets but these stars sure know how to pimp their ride up in the air. 1. Tom Cruise - Gulfstream IV

When this "Mission Impossible" star flies in his $28 million Gulfstream IV, the air inside his cabin is refreshed every two minutes, pressurized at 6,000 feet, and he can check email and surf the Web whenever he wants. How cool is that!

2. John Travolta - Gulfstream and a Boeing 707

As a pilot himself, actor John Travolta reportedly owns 5 private planes that he parks on his front lawn including three Gulfstream jets, a Lear jet and the customized Boeing 707 that he acquired, a mark of his promotion as an honorary pilot of Qantas. He had flown his private jets on many humanitarian efforts including transporting food to victims of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans.

Another well-known aviation enthusiast, "Indiana Jones" star Harrison Ford just like John Travolta is another accomplish pilot.  Ford owns several planes and helicopters, but is partial to his De Havilland, a former US military model restored by Kenmore Air. The De Havilland Beaver stopped production over forty years ago, but is still a highly prized bush plane amongst collectors.










5. Elvis Presley - Convair 880

On April 17, 1975 Elvis bought a Convair 880 Jet, that was taken out of service by Delta Airlines, for the then-substantial sum of $250,000. After refurbishing, the total exceeded $600,000. He immediately rechristened it the Lisa Marie. After Elvis' death in 1977, his father, Vernon sold the plane in 1978 and it changed hands a couple of times. When Graceland opened up to the public in 1982, EPE worked with the owners to try and bring the plane home to Memphis. In 1984, the Lisa Marie was returned to Graceland. It has remained as one of the most popular attractions ever since.

6. Oprah Winfrey - Bombardier Global Express

Media mogul's production company HARPO purchased the $42 million custom-build Global Express XRS built by Bombardier Aerospace. Oprah affirms that it’s great to have a private jet. "Anyone that tells you that having your own private jet isn't great is lying to you". After all, flying in a private jet is provides the ultimate aviation comfort, an expensive perks that money can buy. Oprah’s private jet has an all-leather interior and features designer fixtures in the bathroom and galley. It’s powered by two Rolls-Royce BR710 turbofan engines that give it enough muscle to make it a premier long range business jet. It can go around the world and only stop to refuel once.

  1. These days private jet companies are making private flights more and more affordable, if you make use of "empty legs" you can fly private and pay the same as business class rates in commercial airlines. You just have to know where to look...
